The municipal political reform in Colombia can be catalogued as audacious, because it is more complete than others that have taken place in neighboring countries and has included not only municipal finances, but also the forms of citizen participation. Itagüí, like few other municipalities, has advanced in the logic of seeking that the discussion and construction of public affairs not remain in just a few hands: that of professional political agents.
