The document addresses two topics: the concept of the city, where the city should not be thought of only to know its history and unravel any of its components and its internal logics (its so-called problems), but to elucidate any possibility of its future development. The second theme refers to the political project and urban development of Medellín and the Metropolitan Area of the Valle de Aburrá, where the configuration and meaning of the city's foundational urban layout, the process of urban growth and the logic of land occupation and use are taken into account: from the village to the city, and from the city to the conurbation metropolis.
