This book could well be called the never-ending story. For years we watched Paolo* patiently write hundreds and thousands of handwritten versions in his tiny handwriting. Pages that grew with the heat of the episodes that followed one after the other at a dizzying pace. When he finished it, the story was still unfinished, as it is now. Surely Paolo would not have been surprised to see the neighborhoods of Medellín under the control of paramilitary groups. Somehow, in the pages that follow, one senses that the spiral of violence is unstoppable, because it is not cyclical.
